NEW YORK — The latest big car to enter the new sports car category is the Audi A3, with Mercedes-AMG and Porsche unveiling the cars at the New York auto show on Wednesday.
Audi will unveil the A3 Sportback and A3 Luxury, the company announced in its unveiling of the cars.
The A3 and A4 Sportback are available in three different models, each with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that can produce up to 600 horsepower and 1,100 lb-ft of torque.
The two other models are the A4 Luxury with a 3.0L four-cylinder engine and the A6 Luxury featuring a 6.0 litre twin-turbo V6 engine.
The top-end A4 Premium with a 4.2L turbocharged V6 produces up to 730 hp and 900 lb-force of torque and comes with a $5,000 price tag.
The sport versions of the Audi models come with a standard-length wheelbase, a rear spoiler and heated seats.
The front seats are also heated, but it’s not an optional option.
The other model, the A5 Sportback, comes with the same engine and offers a base price of $27,495.
The sports car is also available with the Audi AMG or the A1, Audi’s all-electric luxury brand.
The A4 sport version will be available with an array of performance technologies and options.
It comes with 18-inch aluminum wheels, carbon fiber bodywork and a 7.0 L V8 engine.
Audi also introduced a hybrid version, the Audi Sport Hybrid, with a hybrid engine.
Both models come in a range of power levels.
Audi’s top-tier A4 will come with the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cam four-wheel drive with all-wheel-drive, and a 2-liter electric motor that can propel the A2.
The car also comes with Audi’s Intelligent Intelligent Cruise Control and a heated front air suspension.
The two sport versions come with an automatic transmission, heated seats and a sport seat.
The sedan also comes in a sports trim and offers an optional leather-wrapped steering wheel and a rearview camera.
Audi and Mercedes- AMG also announced that they will be releasing their respective all-new sports cars.
Mercedes-Amag is introducing the A-Class SUV.
Mercedes is also unveiling a new sports sedan, the D-Class.
Both vehicles are expected to debut in 2019.
Audi and Porsche will also debut their new sports cars at their New York show on Sept. 15.
